Jackson State University

Jackson State University carries a daily mission that its AV cannot afford to slow down. Large-capacity instruction spaces. A Student Center that runs everything from student organizations to community events. And an internal AV team that did not need another vendor. They needed a partner who could hold these systems to a high-uptime standard and keep them current with the applications people actually use.

In a single week the Ballroom might host a banquet, the Theater might stage a performance, and any number of rooms in between will run the lectures, rehearsals, and meetings that fill an academic day. The Student Center carries all of it on one integration, and the systems behind that range cannot afford to fail in the middle of a semester.
That variety is the real challenge. A room that hosts a guest speaker one afternoon and a banquet the next needs sound that stays intelligible in every seat and large-venue display that reads clearly from the back of the house, which is why the audio and sound systems here were engineered for the room rather than dropped into it.

The Theater and the Ballroom run on systems built to handle their full range of use. Aging control gave way to current Crestron control, and the Theater's projection system uses a first-surface mirror to fold the throw into a room that would not otherwise support the image size cleanly. The Ballroom gained large-venue projection sized to fill the room, and the audio was tuned and processed for the space rather than fitted with off-the-shelf assumptions. Microphones were chosen for how the rooms are actually used, lighting and source control stay predictable from one event to the next, and signal distribution moves cleanly wherever it needs to go. The result is a Student Center that performs the same way on an ordinary Tuesday as it does on its busiest week of the year.


Jackson State has its own AV team, and the engagement was built to work alongside them rather than around them. Design, installation, and commissioning kept their staff informed at every stage, so nothing about these systems feels foreign when a room goes live or when something needs attention months later. That is also why the relationship did not end at handoff. The Student Center runs under ongoing lifecycle management, with scheduled maintenance and consistent attention to system uptime, so the rooms stay ready for whatever the calendar puts in front of them and the campus team never has to wonder whether the technology will hold.
